Unhide your rows in Excel in various ways, including the Excel ribbon, a keyboard shortcut, using your mouse, the right-click context menu, and clearing your data filters. Here’s how to unhide all rows in Excel.

Are there hidden rows in your spreadsheet? Can’t locate them? Can’t unhide them? You’re not alone.

Whether the data in your rows were intentionally concealed or accidentally hidden, it can interfere with your data analysis.

The good news is that you can unhide all rows in Excel with the tips in this guide. We’ll show you how to:

  • Use the Excel ribbon
  • Use a keyboard shortcut
  • Use your mouse
  • Use the context menu
  • Clear Excel filters
  • Work with your Excel spreadsheet online

Let's explore the different ways above and ensure that nothing remains out of sight in your spreadsheet.

How to unhide rows in Excel

There are a few ways to unhide rows in Excel. Just follow any of the methods below. Plus, we’ve got some tooltips to help you work with that data online.

How to unhide all rows in Excel using the Ribbon

The most common way to unhide rows in Excel is through the Ribbon. Here’s how:

  1. Open your spreadsheet in Excel.
  2. Click on the triangular Select All button in the upper left corner in your spreadsheet, or press CTRL + A.
  3. In the Home tab, go to the Format section > Hide & Unhide > Unhide Rows.

Expert Tip: Note that hidden rows may only be superficially hidden. That is, they may simply be covered from view. Here are some tips to fix that:

  • Fix row heights by clicking on the border of the row and dragging it up or down to expand it and make the data visible.
  • If you have the Freeze Panes option on, try disabling it to see if the static state of panes is preventing the rows from completely showing up.

How to unhide all rows in Excel using a keyboard shortcut

Using a shortcut in Excel can be one of the quickest ways to unhide rows. Here’s how:

  1. Open your Excel spreadsheet.
  2. Click on the triangular Select All button in the upper left corner in your spreadsheet, or press CTRL + A.
  3. Press CTRL + SHIFT + 9.

While the above two methods show you how to unhide all rows in excel at once automatically, there are also methods to manually unhide sections of hidden rows for more data management control.

How to unhide rows using your mouse

To unhide rows in Excel by manually using your mouse, follow these steps:

  2. Hover your mouse over the row heading where the hidden rows occur.
  3. Then double click when your cursor becomes a split double-headed arrow.
  4. Do this for every group of rows that are hidden in your spreadsheet.

How to unhide rows hidden by clearing data filters

You can unhide rows in Excel that are hidden by the Excel AutoFilter. To do so, simply click anywhere on your filtered data, then go to the Data tab and click on Clear.

Unhide all hidden rows in Excel

This method is ideal for unhiding rows when you have filtered data. When filtering column data, Excel can hide entire rows if the column values don't meet the filter criteria.

Expert Tip: In a filtered group of data, you can also unhide rows one by one if needed if you don’t want to clear your data filters.

Simply hover the mouse over the Row heading where the hidden rows occur and double click to reveal an individual row.
