The easiest and best way to ensure you get your Excel data accurately transferred over to Word is to convert your Excel to Word online using a free online converter.
You’ll need to save your Excel spreadsheet as a PDF first. You can do this in Excel by going to File > Export > PDF. Select a location for your file and click on Save. Once done, follow the steps below:
1. Go to Xodo’s free online PDF to Word Converter.
2. Upload the PDF you created from your Excel file.
3. Click on Convert.
4. Download your newly converted MS Word file to your device or click on DOCX Editor button under the “Continue to” section to start editing your Word document online.
This method provides you with the most flexibility for editing your Excel data in Word.
You can work with the content directly online by applying styles, editing values, and adding visual formatting.
In Microsoft Word, you can insert data from other files as an object. You can use this option to insert an existing Excel spreadsheet table into your Word document.
1. Go to Insert > Text > Object > Create from file.
2. Browse for and select the Excel spreadsheet that has the data you wish to import into Excel. Click on Insert.
You can select whether to Link to File, which will create a shortcut to the source spreadsheet, and if you want the sheet to Display as an icon.
Leaving the Link to File option unchecked will let you double-click and edit the tabular data in an Excel-like interface.
Beware that it will be cumber some to edit the table using this method. This is because you’ll be editing the table as an inserted object. It isn’t natively part of the Word document, itself.
If you opt not to use an icon, your Excel table will be inserted as an image into your document. Clicking on it will direct you outside of MS Word to the original spreadsheet.
3.Click on OK.
A quick way to transfer data between Excel to Word can be done by copying and pasting in your Excel tabular data directly. Follow the steps below:
1. Open both your Excel and Word documents.
2. In your Excel file, click and drag to select the content you want to copy into Word.
3.Click on the Copy command in the toolbar and click on Copy.
4. In your Word document, place the cursor where you wish to paste your Excel content. On the MS Word toolbar, click on the Paste command and click on Paste.
Note: When copying and pasting Excel content in this way, any special capabilities your table had in MS Excel, such as sortable columns, will be lost.
